As a solar symbol the male lion represents an awakened individual.  The spiraling hair in this figure's mane shows that the central qi has risen through the top of the head at acupoint Bai Hui.  The energies have cleared the throat - the symbol of self expression in the Hindu chakra system.  Being authentic in word as well at thought and action the individual is directed by the appearance of the transcendental through dreaming as shown by the maternal figure with the infinity sign above her head.  The garlands around her waist and green growing landscape reinforce fertility and abundance of the eternal spring that can be found within.
